When it comes to German Shepherd Dogs, I often get the question, ‘Are these dogs vicious?’ And my reply is always…your dog will be whatever you raise it to be.
There are obviously vicious German Shepherd Dogs. And there are vicious Yorkies. The difference is, one is a large breed dog and the other a small breed. If you have a large breed dog that is vicious it can be really bad. So my advice to anyone considering this breed is to raise it with loving tender care. Teach it to be obedient, let it have ample exercise so that it can get out its aggression and tension (they have it just like we do), and offer it rewards for demonstrating good behavior.
One word of advice about these dogs…they love to run and if they see another animal or person running, their natural instinct is to catch it. So make sure your dog is on a leash if it is in distance of other animals or people because it WILL run after it. That doesn’t make it a vicious dog, it is only doing what it was naturally intended to do. If it catches what is running, it will naturally try to take it down to the ground to show its dominance. So just be a responsible owner and these dogs are wonderful. They are so loving and most importantly they are loyal. They will be dependent, loving, protective in this crazy world, and are just big old babies. You will love these gorgeous dogs! They will grow up to be how you treat them. If you raise your dogs to be mean and fight, then they will be vicious just like any other breed….if you raise them to be loving, they will do perfect around children and other animals if raised together. So enjoy your dog if you have one, if you are considering one, they are not vicious animals. Now the owners on the other hand…..
